Lightbulb my misses wants a tortoise!!

hi all,
just wondering if anyone can give me some pointers, my other half has been nagging me to get a tortoise, i am open to the idea as i have a beardie (hopefully two! if i can keep her sweet lol)
so can anyone give me some pointers on set up,space,type etc, if we do decide to a tortoise

Do you want a tortoise that hibernates or one that stays up. I think the hermanns is a good starter but a good non hibernater is a redfoot as they have a varied diet ie fruit ,weeds and occasional cooked chicken.

cooked chicken ? I am not sure about that but if you have had no problems then it is up to you. I feed mine dead small mice as thats a bit more like the carrion they eat in the wild.
