Default YBS Diet

As a few of you know our YBS had a RI just before Xmas, thankfully he has got rid of it and is almost back to 100%.

We where thinking of changing his diet, would now be the right time or should we keep him on what he's been getting for another few weeks.

He is on pellets and dried shrimp at the moment.

ANy suggestions of what we could change to ?

We also want to start him on some greens, is this a good idea ? Is lettuce ok for this ?

Any suggestions greatfully received.

Lettuce is largely pointless.

Can you get hold of Kale? Sainsburys here stock it for around 99p a bag,and its great for calcium too! Mine loves it!

Start growing some Duckweed Lemna minor too, it's high in calcium and most turts love it.

Would you suggest keeping him on Pellets & dried shrimp until he's back to full fitness, he's not far off it now ?

Well pellets yes, but I'd cut back on the dried shrimp and introduce the veg as a healthier alternative. Some turts take a while to accept veg as food, and sometimes you need to get them good and hungry before they'll give it a go!
Bearing in mind that yours has been ill recently and will take a few months to recover fully I wouldn't push it, offer veg and if it gets eaten then great, if not just keep trying but don't cut back on the pellets just yet, it needs the vits and minerals in them and a bit of excess protein at this time won't do any harm.
