Default horsfield claws

what do i do if think my claws are getting too long on my tortoise,

Post a pic so we can see if they are excessively long or not. If kept on correct substrate with lots of stones and slates etc they are unlikely to be too long. If kept on soft substrate with nowhere to dig etc then they may get too long in which case a vet will trim them for you. Worth mentioning is that if the claws are too long then the beak is likely to be too.

Maybe put in a slate (in the cool end) and put the tortoises food on it. This will trim the beak a little. As for claws, maybe a stone area in the table.

Just some ideas.

Default tortoise claws

i have put some large stones in with the tort, and he is climbing on them happily will this help his claws?

it should grind them down a bit. but if they are very long, you may have to see a vet.

If they are too long it will probably not help, as torts with long claws tend to walk oddly to avoid walking on them and then they tend to wear unevenly. Best to get them trimmed and then use slates or terracotta to keep them that way
