Selling a tortoise without DEFRA certs could land you with a Jail sentence. Its a criminal offensive, and they won't take it lightly!

Just another example of how CITES rules do not work. It is unlikely that the priginal certificate relating to that particular tortoise is still in the shop, if indeed it ever was. When you think you have to sign for certain worming medication and give your name and address it makes a complete farce of selling an acual animal. Shameful on the part of the shop really that they actually let one go without certs and made no effort to contact the customer, who could well have been landed in deep water, I would still like to know the name of the shop to be honest as there are plans underfoot to stamp out this sort of casual attitude to selling pretected species.
