I'm getting my first Hermann next week and from my research the answer to your question is yes... as long as they are healthy.

Tortoises hibernated, no matter what age.

Yes, Vivs are not great. A tortoise table is alot better.

from what iv been told

its not natrual for them to hibernate and they only do so because there forced to by our weather

i was also told more torts die in hibernation than anything else

please note this is not my personal opinion its just what iv been told

Is this the same shop that goes around collecting wild tortoises to overwinter them for their first few years? Maaybe that is why they did not give a cert. Selling hermanns without certs carries a possible jail sentence!

Considering they are indigenous to areas where they DO hibernate this does not make a lot of sense really.
I have been keeping torts for over 25 years now and have never lost one in hibernation! I know of several people who have not hibernated them and lost them suddenly though. This is not just an opinion but personal experience
