I hate to say this, and I'll hang my head in shame, but I find Red Foots more difficult! I think I must be alone in this, as I have had several pats on the back for cracking the "difficult" Yellow Foots, and everyone says how easy Red Foots are! I am considering parting with my adult trio of Red Foots to make more space, so I guess more breeding attempts will have to wait. They have been with me for over ten years, so I'll miss the little blighters.

We had an awful lot of infertile eggs from our yellowfoots, despite having two adult males and two adult females. The larger female would lay 10 - 12 eggs at a time, but very rarely were there any fertile eggs. The smaller female had smaller clutches, but a higher fertility rate I seem to remember. Unfortunately she was stolen from the park.

It is great to find some other yellowfoot people, I have had 3 eggs from one female, she just scatered them though. I read that they are not nest diggers but leave them under the leaf litter. How did yours lay ??

Partly scattered, partly covered under orchid bark chippings.

As above, sometimes scattered around, and sometimes in a clutch in the aspen bedding. Not like the redfoots, which were always buried in the soil and covered over.

For successful breeding of yellow foots and Red foots you need a very randy male lol They are not like med tortoises where one mating will leave a tortoise fertile for years. You need constant mating.

I find my red foots so much more easier to keep than my meds.

Oh what a shame, how long have you had them? took mine 2 years to settle and start laying eggs.

I breed yellow foots and like some have had poor results, I am at this moment incubating some and trying a lower temp of 27 and humidity of 75% and so far all is well, will update if success is seen.

A freind from work was out in mauritous helping the echo parrakeet project, they went to some of the neighbouring islands and helped out with the Aldabrea reintroduction project it sounded so good I wish I had gone now
