manouria emys emys or manouria emys phayrei.
I now have 5 manouria emys phayrei and 4 manouria emys emys.
I live in Holland and like England the manouria’s are not really kept on a large scale over here.
Therefore I hope to get in touch with others in other countries

I was concerned about that - the only Island near by is Rodrigues that is quite different from Mauritius in terms of geography / ecology. Rodrigues (& Mauritius) used to have they're own giant tortoises who are now both extinct. There is a controlled breeding project going on in Rodrigues - the tortoises are not allowing full roaming rights.

Incidentally if any one wants to stay in Mauritius why not consider my mother in laws beach house? I'm sure I'll be able to arrange 'mates rates'.

Shameless plug over

Having said that, during my last visit in about 2004 I was very disappointed at the high high densities at which they were keeping thier torts.

I haven't heard of vast quanitities of asian browns for sale, so maybe they have stopped incubating their eggs; alternatively, maybe the husbandry conditions are discouraging them from breeding....

BTW, we always tried to be careful with whom we re-homed surplus stock; usually people we knew who had experience etc. Didn't always work of course, and on one occasion some redfoots we had rehomed turned up in a garden centre for sale at 10x the rehoming fee we charged!
The CWP have been removed from the TT pages of shame now. They have made vast improvements to the enclosures and rehomed all the burmese - just leaving the aldabrans in the one large enclosure. I personally think the brick building needs increasing and apparently there are 'plans' to - when this will happen though I do not know.
