Default Algae in YBS tank

Hi, I've got 2 baby YBS and recently I've noticed some green sludge developing on the glass under where their spot lamp is. I work in a pet shop and someone else came in and reported the same problem the other day.
I don't think I'm feeding too much, and the filtration seems ok. Does anyone know what causes this and can you get something to treat it with?

use an algaecide to kill the spores then do regular weekly waterchanges like a fish tank...keep the filter clean.

I prefer a natural approach to using chemicals, the algae is a result of excess nitrates in the water, more live plants will help to cure this as they starve the algae of nitrate, also better bio-filtration will help.
What type and size of filter do you have, and what filter media do you have in it? What size is the tank, and how much water is there?
If you need to add chemicals and do regular water changes then something is wrong with the setup, a good setup is an eco system in miniature where everything is in balance, it should require virtually no maintenance at all.
