So where did the hermanns go? If back to be sold on to some other unsuspecting customer they could be sentencing any other torts to illness or death as the passing on of foreign pathogens can take months to show up as illness Your remaining tortoise could just s easily be carrying something foreign to pass on to the new one too. Bloody petshops!

OMG - this is AWFUL, Sue details why. I really feel for the unsuspecting person purchasing the 'returned' tortoise as there is no way that pet shop will be honest enough to tell them this tort was mixed with another species.

The implications to your new tortoise need to be considered.

no one said the word pet shop in hindsight i should of checked first hold my hands up we all cock up no one is perfect but they were together for 2 hours if that as soon as tortoise dude and jase replied i split them up even chucked bedding away and replaced after a good scrub down of the table so i think contamination was kept to a min just have to keep an eye on them seem to be ok both been out in the living room wandering about cheers darren

Pathogens can spread so easily, wouldn't suprise me if a tort actually died from this situation somewhere down the line.
