You can buy guards specially for them, and some come with guards.

It should come with some foam discs, you just need to add bio media.

I use Alfagrog (from any good Koi or pond suppliers), it's cheap and lasts for ever, and is an excellent medium for the beneficial bacteria to grow on. Get a nylon mesh bag to put it in as it makes cleaning the filter much easier, put the foam disc in the bottom of the filter chamber then as much Alfagrog as you can fit in there.

Got the bio media from my gf's uncle. Alfragrog is what he uses for his own pond, and recommends in his shop.

Got the filter from zoo plus

Got a clearseal 100w heater and a 100w heater guard.

Got a turtle dock

Got stones and food

Think that just leaves the MVB lamp. But i have PM'd Rachel, so hopefully she'll be able to help.

Thanks for all your advice Graham.

I can get the MVB bulb from Rachel

Where can i get the bulb holder, shade and wire, clamp etc?

Can the MVB just be left on for 10-14hrs without being switched off (i read that the basking lamp should be on for about that length of time)

Yes 12-14 hours a day is about right. I got my dome reflector from Kimbos Reptile World

You can get cheaper ones for use with poultry, have a look on eBay or online poultry suppliers.

Ive got a reflector, with a ceramic socket and the MVB bulb from rachel

But never noticed before, but today the bulb went off and a few minutes later came back on, then again a couple of hours later and then again about 5mins ago. Not usually at home when its on. Put it on when i go out in the morning and then leave it on till into the evening.

Wondered why it would be flicking off?
