Just to add. My mum normally feeds the tortoises, and I've just noticed there's a tub of nutrobal at the side of the tank. I can't get in touch with my mum at the minute but I'll be sure to ask if she's been including it in their diet asap.
I am not aware of any specialist vets in your area - Hannah NEEDS to see this tortoise, without delay. Forget how long the journey will take, this tortoise is suffering and is unable to wimper or yelp - take the advise you are being given and get this poor little girl to Hannah ASAP.

Sorry but there's no need to be impolite just because I don't want to travel further than is necessary. The are more options than one vet in the entire of Britain.

[quote=mayo;1214231]Is this based on her leg problems? Or based on the conditions she's been kept in?

Both!

They're 4-5 years old and we bought them when they were babies.

In these circumstance I usually reckon 5-6 years lifespan tops

(quote) I live in Nottingham. How much more costly are specialist vets? I'm sorry this has to be an issue, but I don't have much say in it as I won't be footing the bill.

Your tortoise NEEDS to see Hannah Bould immediately. a normal vet will NOT do

Sometimes it is not about the miles travelled but the tortoise's welfare - your tortoises is suffering, surely the extra miles are worth it??

Where did I say there was "only one vet in the entire of Britain" ??

When it comes to tortoises you NEED to see a reputable vet and if that means going the extra mile then so be it. You NEED to do what is right by this tortoise not the easy route! IMO
