biggest most commonly available tortoise would be a sulcata n boy oh boy do you need a huge area for them.fences they will just push over..so everthing has to be concreted in.

the tortoise trust run a rescue but you have to be a member, also shelled warriors (blondesarah's forum) run one.

You'll be hard pressed to find an adult to be honest.

Also not sure how they'd feel about giving an adult sulcata over toa beginner (in regards to chelonians) always worth asking though.

I might be able to get you in contact with a breeder.
Please be warned these tortoises grow massive you need a huge garden. Oh had they can dig the biggest tunnels ever!
They do not hibernate so you will need either a large heated shed or garage.

I am fed up of people been put off from having larger tortoises, if you can cater for them why not!

i think i could find an adult anything ive got a nack if i really want some thing i'll get it would an indoor enclosure be ok for the majority of the time with an out door area when its warm enough ive actually got quite a small garden but where i live backs onto woods and fields which is where i take my asian water monitor out on his dog lead so exercise i dont think would be to much of an issue as for being a begginer by the time i come to buy one ide be a sulcata boffin i just spend my evenings reading book after book the wife and kids think im a wierdo so it would just be putting into practise what ive learned
