just a couple of points mate, great that youve gota tort table, you need to get that uv tube lower id advise to within 12 inches above the bottom, and to create a better hot spot change the lamp for one that points down and use a spot type reflector bulb hope this helps.
Fell free to pm me.

he's right, any more than 12 inches away from the turt and that UV is having very little effect.

Looks top banana other than that, much better than anything I could have knocked up!

try and get the uv about 12 inches above ya tort or a smidge closer if possible, you can get a reflector panel that clips onto the tube only couple of quid mate.
I was takin the p**s out of mason not you about the turt thing lol.

Like i said though change that light fitting too for something that points down, as youre gonna have the uv lighting it all up id use and infra red bulb ( exo terra or t-rex job) in the light fitting makes a better basking area.

in regards to infra red bulb..

you're using seperate uvb and heat, so a simple spot bulb from your local diy/asda store would be fine providing its pointing down to give a hot spot. just play with the height to get the correct basking temp of 30-32. You can get white, red quite readily available, and they're only a couple of quid

the infra red bulbs in my experience are just alot of money for something which effectively does the same job.

they're supposed to be quite good for species that require night time temps as the infrared doesn't disrupt the animals (apparantly), however tortoises only require day time heat, so it seems pointless imho

i shouldve worded it better really what i was getting at is more the glare youde get of off the tort table as its in youre house, so yeah a simple coloured spot bulb would do the trick.
I use infra red bulbs sometimes depending on the set up.
The infra red light isnt visable to reptiles .
