Lots of people use indoor rabbit cages as tortoise tables. It's just as 'proper' as a wooden box which is what most tortoise tables are and far safer if you have dogs or cats who might bother the tortoise plus far, far better than a viv. It's fine as long as it's big enough.

Sorry that is only in the eyes of pet shops. A tortoise is a chelonian and does not need the same enclosed space as say lizards, snakes etc
They need light and airy accomodation with no glass walls or covered areas and certainly no constant temps.

These are excellent for torts Tina, increasing the size as the tortoise gets bigger until it is big enough for a permanent outdoor enclosure. The beauty of these is that they can also be taken outdoors in good weather with minimum disruption to the tortoise too

Hi Wizzasmum,


So this would be suitable for a hermans then?

We've actually bought it and picked it up already! Its pretty big!!! So the tort will have loooads and loads of room and this one will have better airflow that the first picture i posted...just thought it come on here and double check its ok!?

yeah its definately big! it measures 37" long by 22" wide! so just over 3 foot long by just under 2 foot wide!

Yes, fine for hatchlings. Remember to take them outside on good days to benefit from the natural uvb.
