Yes I should be happy that I'm finally moving out of the dragons lair (my mother in laws house) but there's a problem. Went to sign the contract today and it turns out that you arent allowed animals in the flat. Geckos are going to be easy to hide...but not my beloved Red Eared Slider.
She's a rescue and I actually managed to get her eating a healthy diet recently...but there's no way I can take her with me. The big tank gives it all away - and by giving 24 hours notice, the landlord can enter whenever he wants. I have no choice but to rehome her, it breaks my heart seriously but I still have no choice. I really ask you guys as you've all been really supportive in the past...if you know absolutely anyone that could take her on for me I'd be soo greatful...I feel stuck. I move on Monday and I can't exactly leave her here... I;m begging... __________________

Have you discussed this with the letting agent/landlord?
I've heard several instances of this, where the landlord means cats and dogs and stuff like that, but the agent interprets it as any kind of animal. If it's explained to the actual landlord that you're talking about a fishtank he may relent, and it would be easier than finding a new home for it, as you know turts are not the easiest of animals to rehome. |

Obviously try and speak to the landlord and I hope he/she comes round to the tortoise!
Failing that; the Tortoise Trust will be able to help you with the rehoming. The Trust has decades of experience in rehoming tortoises. Have a look at their site: Tortoise Trust Web - Rehoming I will be happy to help you. Tamie Tortoise Trust Rehoming Co-Ordinator |
