Recipe for disaster Josh. My neighbour gives hers a little talk before she goes out to calm them down. Then they trash the house LOL
Exactly what I tell my mum- I tell her not to do things such as make a fuss for about 10 minutes before I go out, or for about ten minutes before we come in- It'll make him think that there is something wrong with us going and the inevitable will happen, and he will get stressed.

I find nothing wrong with giving them a cuddle, Sonny is sitting with me right now asleep, but I also find that there is a limit to things like this- and its the exact reason that Buddy "ruled the roost" of course, when I was looking after him, when mum and dad where on hols, he was perfectly fine, and did nothing, however, mum doesn't see it like that and she obviously thinks her way is right .

With regards to the whole toweling/contradiction thing, I still think it's best for me to not dry my torts, as I like to interfere as little as possible.

I still, like always think that each to their own, and that everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I still think certain people are being hypocrites.

Just to clear things up- it wasn't meant to cause arguments, and I wasn't having a dig at anyone. I got accused of this, and then obviously, I replied with my thoughts and feelings and got given the whip. Makes me laugh when people tell me I only listen to one point of view, when in fact, they are doing it themselves.

Gosh, the stress our tortoises get us into!!!

I brush the shells of my torts from time to time when they have had a bath, I was told you should. I shall carry on with that as well!

As for the dogs, hmmm, I have owned dogs all my life and at present time have 6, I show dogs and I talk to them like they are my babies... Because that is what they are, they are my life. Does that make me a stupid or a bad person/owner? Nope it certainly doesn't. The breeders my dogs have come from say the dogs are spoilt, which they are, I buy them something everytime I leave them at home, something I would never have done with my daughters, they are allowed on the furniture and get lots of treats! BUT, my dogs are very well behaved thank you, just because I adore them above all people does not mean they have never had any training and are not treated like dogs, they know who the boss id even if they are spoilt.... I had better put the pups bowl on the floor and stop hand feeding her I guess!

As an "outsider" in the tort world I often find it amusing how when one person says one thing on here, or else where, a certain other jumps into say that person is right and others are wrong! If your ears are burning it is probably you, but I won't mention any names, lol!

Now back to spoiling my babies... The dogs that is

Judging from your pic, your hermann is quite small, I bath mine daily or at least once every other day at that age, with my bigger ones being a bit less frequent.

About 20 minutes in Luke Warm Water, although I usually like to give mine longer.

Mine don't poo every day in the bath, but they do quite often.

The most important thing when looking after torts of a young age is hydration!

I "kitchen towel" dry my young meds (not reds)
but leave my older ones to dry under their lamp,
except my poorly marg that is.
BUT what the F does it matter if someone towels dry or not??!!??
Everyone has their own ways and doings, as long as the torts are healthy i dont see a need for a petty debate, its pointless.

Sorry but what absolute rubbish - who on earth do you think dries off wild tortoises after thunderstorms etc. Mine come running for a good summer storm and presuming they wanted to get wet it would seem a bit silly to dry them off afterwards.
BTW the wiggling is a sexual thing
Sexual thing that sounds a little disturbing
Whats it about then cause i've seen them to it against rocks and stuffas well?

I dont brush my torts or dry them. Iv never seen poo on my torts bum eather. I find that a good soak gets all the dirt and so on off. I see no reason to dry a tort. Most Forums tell you to handle as little as possible so thats wot i do. This works well for me
