Good grief I am not a turtle person, but these are fresh water species. Get them to a vet instead of messing about with salt and stuff. If they were tortoises I would say most likely septicaemia. Death will follow without specialised treatment if this is the case.

I am not a turtle person but this looks to me like a blood infection (septaceamia) and needs immediate veterinary treatment regardless of what it is. If it is an infection it will be treated with antibiotics. This looks very serious indeed. Try phoning your local vets and asking if they deal with turtles or if they can recommend, if they don't deal with them, they are likely to know someone who does.

Pet shops know not a lot about exotic species - hence the problem now
There is an excellent exotics species in Preston, but do not know her number off the top of my head. Have a look in yellow pages and check out Preston numbers. I think her name is Saira or similar just in case you find a practise
