Default Just wondering..

Why do so many people choose a slider over a musk turtle when musks don't grow as big and so can live in a smaller tank?
There must be an advantage that I am unaware of...

I don't think that many people do choose Sliders over Musks. Sliders are just alot more commonly sold, bearing in mind that most people who go to a shop to purchase a hatchling are people who have never kept a turtle before, so all they know is they're buying a turtle or terrapin.

Probably because most turts are impulse buys, people don't bother to learn anything about them so have no idea of how big they'll grow.

Good points. More shops probably sell them because they are more colourful and look more appealing.

Also because they are cheaper and more plentiful, the more exotic turts cost more and only appeal to the more serious enthusiast, and there aren't that many of us.

You mean crazy people who drive hundreds of miles in a day, to ensure some turtles get good homes?

Is there a big price difference? How much would you typically pay for each one?

Common Musks seem to be sold for circa £30, where as YBS etc go for around half that.
