Hibernation is something everyone worries about, especially at first, but it is actually really easy... So long as you do it properly! Just give me a shout if you want when you have your tort and I will tell you exactly what I do with my Hermanns.

It wouldn't be hard to make a frame to go over a tort table and cover it with wire. You could either just lift it off or have it hinged.

My outdoor enclosure which is 16ft x 4ft has a wire mesh top. I used avairy wire, and one day one of my Newfoundlands decided to climb onto the enclosure!!! Luckily the wire didn't break! So I don't know what size your dog is, but the Newf in question is 10 stone and if it could hold her weight you should be ok with your dogs!
