Default little help

hey guys have never kept a chelonian before, but from reading all ur guys threads, you shelled guys seem to be serious so thats good. i have also seen that the best starter tortoise (dont want an aquatic turtle) is a horsefield? this is nowhere near soon (maybe next xmas?) but i was thinking about a horsefield, just thinking btw. I have read lots of care sheets- reason being i read alot of care sheets on reps so chelonians are great for me to read on- and reading the care sheets ive found that ill be ok with the care and all (i keep animals requiring uvb and vitamins and calcium) but heres the thing: can you get tort tables with like mesh or something on? i have dogs so might be dangerous for the tort because mum and dad would only let me have it in my room and the only place for a tort table is the floor. so do any have like mesh on the top or summin? wouldnt have thoght itd be a good idea with wooden lids cause they would not have good ventalation plus would be sorta blacked out. sorry for the long thread just wanted to make sure.

Best starter tort is hermans or horsfield, yes. Horsfields however dig so need a deep substrate.

You can fit a wire mesh over the top of the tort table.

hermanns dont require a license to keep... do you mean the certificate when you buy one? horsefields don't need one but hermanns do... youll get one when you buy a hermanns. it doesnt effect the keeping of them though.
wire meshing over the top would be fine!

As shaun said.
You don't need a licence but they come with a certificate that horsfields don't.
No biggy.

The mesh will prtect him from the dogs but won't he get stressed once they try to get at him? Maybe you can build some legs on the table?

I don't think it does. The vet doesn't even need to see it I don't think.
