sand can be used as bedding? Does it need to be bought from a shop or beach sand washed?

What do you mean when you say you will only cover a small area?

You need to put the basking light down one end of the tort table, and then put a thermometer under it to get a basking temp of about 82-85 (or 30-32c) degrees (I think, my brain has gone!). The rest of the tort table needs to be cooler than that, about 70F. At night time it needs to get cooler still, but make sure it is above 10F or your tort will want to hibernate. If your room is too warm in the day turn the heating/radiator down!!

Okay thank you, I meant I would cover a small area of the run, not all of it, so one side of the run.. My room is warm, I believe over 10F at night, should I turn the lamp off at night? Tomorrow ill be at work, should I turn the lamp on while im at work from 10-3 and tell my mum to keep an eye on it, or just put the heating on in my room and wait until the run is made at 3pm..

Thank you!

I have heard aspen bedding is good? Because the sand/soil can be messy and can cause impaction?

Also have you got any links for a lamp and holder thats both heat and Uv? I might looking into getting that.. I have a heat one for now, but might aswell get 2 in one when i can

Hemp is Ok, have'nt heard of aspen though. As far as I'm aware sand/soil can't cause impaction.

Google 'Kimbos reptile world'.
