They pee on you if stressed. Mine used to do this all the time when I 1st got them but now they are used to handling they don't do it.
I've noticed they have individual behavioral traits and preferences - for example one of mine eats Clover - the other won't touch it. One eats fruit (I offer a small bit now then because in my view an enterprising med tortoise would come across ripe fruit in the wild - especially in the autumn) but the other does'nt. One actively seeks human interaction -ie I put my hand on the substrate and he will crawl on but the other could'nt give a toss. I think they have suprisingly good eyesight and in many ways are more accomplished than they let on!! |

Mine doesn't mind sitting on my hand (luckily has never peed on me either), doesn't mind having the top or the side of her head stroked (I do these things because I try to keep in mind that someday she may need to see a vet and I want her to be used to human contact if she needs to be examined) but she doesn't seem to like having her shell stroked... she walks round in circles until I stop.
She has definite preferences on food... dandelions being her fav and strawberry leaves a definite no-no. I thought they heard through vibrations via their shells? I'm sure I read that or did I imagine it? ![]() |
