first off, did u hear me say to take out any water in the torts table/viv cos baths rehydrate them fully enough to live? no i didnt so stop putting words in my mouth.

secondly, im only passing advice which has been received by me. and the person who gave me the advice im quite confident knows much more about torts than you. i shall telephone this person tomorrow and ask personally, if she tells me i'm wrong then i will hold my hand up and admit it.

also, if this advice has never been proven right does that mean that is doesn't occur?

I don't think it's actually been scientifically proven right or wrong Shaun... so your belief is as viable as the person who doesn't have the same belief

If it has been scientifically proven as wrong then would someone kindly furnish us with the report

once again, it may be theory. i will find out tomorrow. and i wouldn't label it 'cloacal drinking'... i didn't say it acted as a straw and sucked water up!

can i also ask this? a question for helen and ed seems as you two doubt the theory (once again, you may me right or wrong and same with me - but lets just try another point of view)

Why bath torts in the first place when there is a water bowl in their housing for them to drink from? This is actually a serious question because i may be missing something here......

Again... google: Cloacal drinking

The first reference should be a scientific paper. There are other references dispelling this myth.

Soaking will rehydrate a tortoise but only if the tortoise orally drinks.

Thanks for that. I'm still ringing my contact tomorrow so i personally aren't going to doubt the theory until then.
