You might want to question the 'experience' of some of these keepers that are offering advice.

It's very easy to say...feed weeds... nothing but weeds.

You should then ask what weeds should I feed? Then you need to ask what ratio of weeds do you feed so all the nutritional requirements are met?

It's interesting how this advice gets more and more restrictive for no reason at all.

Fruits and veggies are more than fair game as food items.

This is why I push the pelleted diet... no question... no argument... it's all there. You don't have to worry about poisons, types, amounts... no question.

I'll try them on a mixture of veg and weeds, if he still refuse's to eat or I don't notice him eating them much, I'll try the "T-Rex" diet, but I want to try the naturally one first, cheers for your advise mate!!

All advise is welcome! You can all add me to msn if you want, supersizza@hotmail.co.uk

Ed he is a young man with his first tort and doesn't need to be bombarded with all this scientific info all in 1 go.I (and I am sure the others who gave advice) is trying to get him started off without all the complicated info and without too much information all in one go.I am sure he knows that variety is best and that there are some weeds and plants that may be poisonous and that there are lots of other foods he can offer too.I do not see the point in yet another arguement or debate about this topic.Let him learn and take in things gradually as he goes along. He already said he may give the pellets a go and he has also mentioned veg etc. There is no rush he or his tortoise is going nowhere in a hurry.Let him enjoy and learn and decide for himself what he thinks is best for the tortoise.

You shouldn't keep putting people down either.

Sorry if my providing complete information upsets you.

As to putting people down... Let's tally up all the snide and insulting comments that have been posted for my benefit... then tally up all those posted by me. I think I'm safe in saying that my posts have been quite tame.

As to letting the young man decide what he should or shouldn't do... you are spot on. This is a forum where different people are allowed to present different ideas about this wonderful and pleasant hobby. The OP should be allowed to read through this material and decide for themselves what action to take.

The arguing goes without saying. If I believe there is erroneous information being presented I think it is beneficial to all who read it that it be addressed... or I can take the approach of some others who post and add comments like... that's crap... BS... and some of the other colorful comments. The best one I like though is... why don't you keep your opinions to yourself.

I guess this is me hijacking yet another thread.
