Default Bath

Hey guys, my little guy is shedding also he has not drunk any water as far as i can see, so how would i give the little guy a bath?

He should be bathed every day in a shallow container (small tupperware will work fine) with lukewarm water to keep him hydrated. The depth should be around the bottom of his shell. Just pop him in and leave him in the bath for about 15 to 20 minutes. He will most likely pass urates and poo while in there too.

it's also handy knowing that torts can (whats the word?) consume(?) water through their tales hence the reason that the bath rehydrates them, which means you don't have to physically see them drinking.

Cool thank you, he'll be settling into his new home in 20mins when his run is ready, mum went out and bought loads for him today including new heatlamp ect..

can i ask? what kind of tort is it? age? how long u had it? what u keeping it in? are u new to torts?

It would be handy to know that torts could take in water by cloacal drinking....but as yet no one has produced Hard evidence for this!

Hes 6 month old "thats what I was told" he's a horsefield, I am yes very knew to torts, he was a suprise present yesterday and I kept him in my glass tank overnight, today mum has been out and bought everything he needs and ive spent like 5 hours researching, he's getting moved into his run in like 20mins, which will only be until around april, when its april ill buy a hutch or something

You might want to research this a little bit... This is not true at all. Someone might actually believe this and count on this bit of advice for hydrating their tortoise.

SOOO how do we keepers hydrate our tortoises if bathing doesnt work, as some tortoises tend not to drink form their water bowls etc.
