Hi, I was so worried about my horsfield just a few weeks ago, he was not eating and not drinking just 'lying there' and generally being very sluggish and slow. Also several times I had to wake him up as he hadn't been out all day and needed his bath.

Never really thought about it at the time but as I live in Scotland and we were having a VERY cold snap at the time it could have been this.

As I said it lasted at least two weeks and I was worried sick, but one day he just changed and was back to normal, this coinsided with the weather change and me altering the thermostat on the heating because it was so cold.

Hope he is feeling better soon though

hi thanks for that.
his temps are fine and i have my heating on a timer so its constantley warm in the living room were he is. all my radiators are on timers as my house is allways warm for my son (3) squirt belongs to my son he is the only pet he can have as he suffers with a servere skin disability and cannot have fury pets, our heting has to be at a constant temp to prevent his skin condition from worsening so temps aint a problem sorry about me rambling on im just worried i dont want to loose him

BUT you do have a point he is slugish and lethargic and wants to speel rather than roam about,he is constantley at his basking end never goes to his cool end he used to.i baught him one of those wooden log thngs the ones you can bend,if you know wot i mean ,for reptiles, since getng it he sleeps under there as its arched,he goes under it to sleep and basks on top.

soz will stop rabling on

My tort is the same as yours this time of year, has been since I got him four years ago.

Don't think there is much to worry about, their metabolism etc slows down as really they should be in hibernation.

Just a question for anyone that knows, when should I hibernate my tort? He is four now but I'm not very confident about doing it?

sounds to me that your tortoise is not warm enough, if he is constantly under his basking lamp then he's too cold. you may want to turn your temp up for a few days to see if he reacts. Look at changing his diet as some of the items you're feeding him are too high in water content.
Hope he improves soon.
