Drummerkid... I can totally understand why you'd think like that and it was a very sensible thought process. I know my two leo's both go to their calcium bowl and eat from it but I've never seen my tort bite on her cuttlefish yet.
Mine do !! But they like it fresh and I don't now why

I have a tortoise a few years back that was dragging his back legs - turned out he had articular gout - is there any swelling of the knees ??

His legs seemed fine but he just lacked any push in them.

I hope your tortoise is ok !

Hi Sheldon,

did the vet give you a care sheet for your tort? If not there is a good general one as a 'sticky' on the forum board. Also you could 'Google' marginated tortoise' and you will find lots of info.

100 watt bulb might be a bit strong but I dont keep torts so come back to the forum later when the more experienced keepers are around to help you. There may even be someone in your area who you can meet up with - but speak to your folks first?

If you can try posting a photo of your set - up using the 'photobucket' website. Then other keeprs will see what you need better.

Good luck!
