I'm sure you're intellegent enough to see what is really going on. Tortoise freaks have tried to change the main stream and almost succeeded... Thank you RFUK. I'm sorry... it's a very hard idea to explain. |

I may be a little cynical but I read this as..........If you won't give my rigid views the credit they deserve and insist on listening to other peoples views, which are just tittle tattle, then I'm going. I was almost tempted to use an emoticon but couldn't find one to represent a dummy being spat out. Last edited by jms; 25-02-2008 at 09:25 AM.. |

I speak to alot of people from this list on msn, and as has been mentioned earlier they view the shelled section for entertainment purposes and openly admit to doing so. A few even admit to deliberately stirring things once in a while. Not had a chance to post here properly in a while due to real life commitments and problems but hopefully that should change.
in regards to the last post, you may think what you will about sue and her seeming to spit her dummy, but she is an immensly knowledgeable keeper who i wouldn't hesitate to ask for help. As paul said the constant tortoise nazi accusations thrown around, and tbh i don't see that it's constructive on either side to pursue meaningless arguments/slander, whether you know one another from other lists or not. Off reading but not having a chance to post much this last few weeks i've noticed that peoples ego's are getting in the way of the torts welfare and that has to stop tbh. I must admit since ed joined and started posting alot more viewers have been observed on the shelled section, so he certainly does grab attention. It's refreshing to see different ways of tortoise keeping, but rather than us saying feed pellets exclusively, or feed weeds exclusively, maybe we should be a little more open and give them the options of boths and the reasons, and our opinions/experiences with both. Be it good or bad. Now personally i'm of the 'side' as ed put it that doesn't believe in pellets.. but that's purely because i try to replicate the wild as closely as possible. As i said in another thread to conclusively prove shell problems etc are caused by pellets would be a mammoth task, only changing one variable at a time, having hundreds of torts split into 10-20 groups, and tbh i can never see the research getting done. However when i encounter a tort that has shell deformitites and i'm told they are fed pellets i immediately put that towards the problems overall, maybe a study like this is needed so we know one way or another whats best for the animals? anyways i'm going well off topic but i'm responding to various peoples posts that i've seen in here so, so be it. PS Paul those babies are stunning!and a huge credit to you once again
