Default Microchips

I've just noticed the microchip on one of my females starting to work it's way back out through the skin. Has anyone else had a problem?
I've heard stories about these things migrating to other parts of the body but have not had any problems before.
If this continues to work it's way out I'm just going to remove it and put it to one side. I've always considered this microchipping of Tortoises to be barbaric and will only get microchipping done when absolutely necessary.
I won't be having this stray one replaced.
I should add that this particular Tortoise was microchipped about four years ago.

Only one of mine is chipped prior to coming to me.
I personally do not like this practice and as I do not breed...will not be doing it any time soon.

I dont suppose you would care to take a photo of this migrating microchip, and post it up on this forum please, it could be benefitial to other keepers, and a possible reference for the future...T.T.

I will try to get a picture of this. The tortoises leg isn't just slightly swollen, I can actually see the chip protruding.
I have no intentions of replacing it, in fact I have heard that some vets don't actually insert the microchip, but just hand it to the owner with the relevant numbers to enable the article 10 to be changed to a s.s.c.
I'm keeping the leg bathed to keep the skin soft and applying betadine, looking at it this morning, it will be completely removeable very soon.

I think the chips should be fixed to some unobtrusive part of the shell with epoxy resin. I know that a thief could remove it but it's less invasive than inserting it into the tortiose.

There's got to be a less barbaric way of marking them. The chip they use is the same as they use on dogs but there's a big difference between painlessly inserting one under the skin of a dogs neck and painfully
(i should imagine) putting one into a skinny Tortoise leg.
