Looks good. For slate try tiling warehouse places. Can get a couple of slate floor tiles, usually in singles.

try aquatic retailers, some sell the small bits but some also have larger pieces......or the garden centre......worth a try

Strange - the ones I've been in will usually let you buy singles. Just keep an eye out, these tile places crop up all over the place. You can use an upturned plate or something if you want something in the meanwhile.

Good use of space for the table by the way.

The drawers were side by side along the right hand wall, with the left being empty, thought this way i would get a much bigger table in the space I had!!

I solved the tile problem by walking around my home town until I found a builders skip. A quick rummage later I was equipped with enough slate and rough stone to furnish 2/3 tortoise tables.
