I feed my turts on a diet based on good quality pellets, they should get all their vitamin and mineral requirements from that, then with fresh food in addition there should be no need for supplements.

I have seen it for sale on ebay & wondered what it was. I think it can be given in the water if the turtle is not feeding probably - does that make sense? More a medicinal pick-me-up than an ongoin dietry supplement or substitute. Cant be sure what the '9' ingredients are though - big Col. Sanders type secret I suppose. I'd be interested of hearing of anyone who uses/ has used these brand products (for reptiles) & what they think of them.

The trouble is, the average person isn't going to be able to study the effects such vitamins etc have on their animals.

I think they're drops that go in the water.

Mmmm. How do they work then? - by being swallowed in the water when feeding I guess? I do know Beaphar are a dutch comapny who also produce pellets & meal worm paste for torts. I think they are trying to break into the UK market.

The emphasis seems to be producing foods with ' the correct calcium/phosphate mix with added D3'.

"Liquid supplement containing 9 essential vitamins. May be added to food, or to the animals' water, thus making it very convenient for use with turtles and terrapins"

Cheers - Like I said a bit sparse on info. I wonder if proper trials have been done or are they just profiteering?

Adding it to the water doesn't strike me as very efficient way of administering vitamins and minerals to a turt, I mean some of us have 500 litre + tanks, how much of this stuff would you have to add to get a concentration that would actually be of any use? And then when you do your regular partial water changes most of it goes down the drain!

I tend to agree Graham - however some fluids can be contraolled to 'coat' the skin & shell. Not saying that is good BTW. If you go to the exhib in Germany look out for this lot eh?
