personally i hibernate mine in a box with deep substrate, this year it's hemp, t'other half wasn't reet keen on soil/sand in the fridge

I know a few people who use towels or put them straight onto the shelves though

It's caused huge ructions on other forums ie giving the people the idea that it's ok to have tortoises running round fridges etc - most of us are of course totally stupid and are easily led astray by those evil, cunning scribblers of the tabliod press. It's a good thing that the 'chosen few' are out there to protect us from ourselves. My view is that it's a typical example of a 'cute animal story' and will be completely forgotten by almost all of the readers within 48 hours.

I hibernate my torts in my food fridge as well, though they are in a plastic box with aubiose in it, and it has a lid on top.

I see no problem with having food in the fridge chicken and eggs cary as much if not more risk. As for the mixing of the torts i cant see the pics as my pc is not letting me look But as long as the torts arnt touching theres no problem. Shirly would not take a risk with her torts so thay would all be in great health before going in the fridge.
