Default Red Foot Diet - What do they eat

Hi,
I've owned my red foot for about 7 months and I think he is about 18 months old.

When I brought him the reptile centre told me to feed him lots of fruit and vegetable's.

I have been to other reptile centres in the last few days and I seem to be getting some contradicting information, including feeding him 'pinkies' for protein and not giving him cucumber which he loves. I do own a book on feeding red foots but to be honest I really don't understand it all that well, therefore if anyone can actually tell me what the best food to feed him on I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

That's what I call taking information out of context.

They do eat fruit and carrion... but so do most other tortoises.

Dark leafy greens are the main fare. I recommend the T-rex tortoise diet for starters and focus on the dark leafy greens. Low water fruit is also acceptable... Pears, Apple... berries in general.

I don't suggest 'lots of fruit'. Veggies are also acceptable... carrot, broccoli(limited), Lettuces... those are ok.

I feed my lot 70% weeds and 30% fruit. They have dehydrate cat biscuits every week also. They also have the odd mushroom once a month.
They are producing lots of eggs which are well formed so must be doing something right.
