I can never get my head around people who say they have been to a shop and found it appalling but leave with out speaking to any of the staff and then slags em off on a forum under a made up name for the whole world to see.. Seems like a cowardly way of doing things to me.

I did speak to the gentlemen that was working there when I visited.

On asking "Why are the snakes on bare concrete?"

He replied, "A lot of people ask that, but they actually prefer it".

So, did the snakes tell him they preffered it? Seems ridiculous to me.

On asking on the lack of UVB in the diurnal lizards vivs he replied, "it isn't an actual requirement"

He also stated that food size didnt matter with baby beardies, and then chucked a fully grown locust in with numerous babies and watched as they all had a go at it. I don't care if none of the beardies got hurt, that is NOT the way to sensibly feed hatchlings. I didn't comment on that, I just left.

So Simon, I did speak to the staff member, but got half-arsed, careless answers.

Im only telling it like it is, there is no way i would not say anything to him/her and then run to this forum just to slag them off. I dont consider it slagging off either. If I see reptiles, or any animal for that reason, being poorly cared for I will speak out, Im not being petty and starting needless arguments.

As requested here are pictures of just one of the vivs in this shop. No hide, water bowl, substrate etc. Surely it would have been easier, and more importantly better, to put the royal in a hatchling tub with a UTH?

I went back to the shop to find identical conditions, so this wasn't temporary housing whilst a suitable viv was made up. The royal was in these conditions for some time.

I hope people can see where I'm coming from now, as anybody with the slightest knowledge of good reptile husbandry would not have kept a snake in these conditions for a long period of time. I wouldn't have kept it in there for even 30mins! Like I said, a hatchling tub and a sheet of paper towel is hardly hassle to set up!!!

Like I said though I havent been there in two weeks, although opening a shop and being "busy" is no excuse for the extremely poor care of animals.

Ill post them tonight, when I figure out how to get them off my phone and onto my PC lol!

It wasn't a question of believing one side or the other....but pictures turn a thread from a *possible* unwarrented attack on a business into a justified one.

I understand that completely Mason. Although I wouldn't consider it an attack as I was trying to encourage the owner to make improvements, which she says she has, so hopefully all will be better now.

I hope, however, from these pics you can see why I felt the need to say something after my suggestions and questions, regarding the conditions of the vivs, to an employee were snubbed off.

definately, I have done exactly the same myself in the past and would do so again without hesitation.

I too have visited your shop and thought the conditions disgusting. Please do also let us all know how you get these animals into the country ?

From what I have heard there were problems with your shop in Bristol too.

I too would like to warn people on this forum not to go near your shop or they will just encourage you to continue with your cruelty.

Ok i know im new to the reptile scene but to be fair i have been to the shop and although i didnt pay much attention to the snakes i thought the set up for the other reptiles was impressive (like i said i did pay very little attention to the snakes as there not my kind of thing)to what i have seen previously and i know im not the only one saying that.

Everyone has their own thoughts and oppinions and i dont think you can judge unless you have actually been there.

It certainly impressed me to what ive seen previously in and around the Cardiff area by far.

Good Luck Leeanne!

Those pictures are shocking. However I don't know where they were taken.
I'm not saying I believe one side or the other, but going into the shop is the only way to be sure.

IF, and I do mean IF, those pictures are of your shop, you should be ashamed of yourself. I doubt that Royal will ever recover from the shock of that.
