I'd travel as far as it takes to source something I needed for breeding, and I think sundays are a good idea. An evening, perhaps even on a fortnightly or monthly basis which represented a promotion or meeting point could be useful. Something I'd always thought might be a draw would be organised importation from US breeders, where people were invited to look at lists from different breeders 3 or 4 times a year and imports were tailored to share freight costs etc. That way the shop could make a few quid and perhaps get more interesting stock without paying a bomb on the airfare and legalities. I will be bringing in some snakes from Applegate soon and will certainly offer a list to the forum to spread cost. I think that kind of relationship could be valuable to a shop and its customers.

sundays are a must, late night opening on one night a week has proven useful for us.

Sundays a must
late opening one night a week would be good to. I will travel any distance to the right shop, but only to one that had some more less seen stock. undoubtedly bread and butter herps should be the main stay of any shop but it would be nice to see something else. I have a big problem with shops selling mostly WC or CF especially totally unsuitable species such as Green Iguanas, water monitors, retics, burms and snappers/terrapins. we all now that these will end up in rescue centres in the future as most zoo will no longer take them in.

if i ever open a shop and i'd like to say when
i'd have opening from 10 - 6.30 every day but on a wednesday open 10 - 8 ish? it gives people a chance to see some of the nocturnals out to play on a wednesday and people could call in on their way home from work every day of the week to pick up live foods and as i think was mentioned some sort of shippig from the us at certain time of the year would be awesome, because sometimes you just can't get things over here
