Really enjoyed reading the care sheet and found it informative. Just been and reserved a brazilian one today. The female is gravid and due anytime. Can't wait, it will be my first boa and they are a stunning looking snake.

great care sheet, thnx, Im waiting for BRB's too

just 1 thing tho, cud u add something about habitat, cos altho u mentioned viv size, u didnt add anything about wot type of equipment.

Just wanna know if a heat mat is better than a heat bulb, or if I shud get a hygrometer and a thermo, or wot

I got a few weeks to go b4 mine r ready, so wanna know as much as possible b4 then, and make sure everything is there, if u know wot i mean.

I.e equitment it all depends on what your preferences are, i have housed my rainbows in pennie vivs but i have also housed them in wooden vivs too, i find with the pennie vivs i will use a heat outside the viv and under a protective foam so it does not get too hot on the bottom for the snake, this way inside the viv its gets nice a humid for the rainbows and my brazilians love it.

With wooden vivs i have used bulbs, i out in extra moss and spray it once a day to increase the humidity level, i have noticed that colombians are more sturdier than brazilians and can tolerate less humidity.

Regarding the campina grande 07 i would wait till the female is a least 3 years of age beofre you try and breeding trials as by then she should be a good weight, i find alot of breeders rush things with there snakes and try and breed them when they are either too young or under weight, i like to wait a little longer with rainbows as when they are older and at the right weight they should produces healthy babies in theroy.

Good care sheet but very generalised. If you think about it, the various subspecies range over the entire of South America which is around 6,890,000 sq miles, and not all of this will be between 85-88f. Colombia, Venezuela and Guyana are close to the equator so will get around that temperature however, Argentina and Paraguay are much further south. I keep my Argentine rainbow boa at a high of around 27/28C thus reflecting the lower temps found there.

Was wondering has anyone else got an ARB? So glad i got my girl when i did, wonderful tempremant, gorgeous and no problem at all. Very underated boas but seem to becoming more popular and so gorgeous already no need for morpsh (although know Bricks working on some).
