Hey, I have had a fox snake for a few years now, and its been pretty much the same as keeping a corn snake so any corn snake caresheet will give u more or less the advice u need!
Fox snakes tend to be way more active than corn snakes tho, mine is in particular! He does tend to climb quite a bit as well, most of his time is on the floor but when he's cruising about he's up and down climbing and exploring! In the wild they climb trees quite a bit to search for birds nests looking for food and although they arent considered arboreal, it would be a shame if in captivity if they had nothing to climb cos theyre so good at it!
Regarding substrate ive only ever used aspen shavings for him which has never been a problem, but i have often used just newspaper so either of those would be fine in my opinion.
Theyre pretty hardy so you'll be fine, and although I love cornsnakes too, I find fox snakes way more charismatic! Hope this helped! Cheers
