Default mites

One of my mice has been going a bit bald and scratching itself to death and I fear it may be mouse mites. I just cleaned out all my rodents and put white bedding in this mice cage, and sure enough a couple of brown insects (really small brown things with wings) have shown up already. This could have something to do with me bringing in another mouse about 5-6 weeks ago into that cage. Should I seek mice treatments?

Obviously my biggest fear is not for the mice, since they only live a year or so anyway, but for my python. Snakes can not catch rodent mites can they? I've looked in her water bowl and there is no mites in there and I cant see any on her or in the cage so I hope she does not have them if they can pass on. I will treat the mice cages obviously and kill the critters before they can spread to my other mice or snake.

Also, if a snake did have mites, would it stop eating? My snake has not eaten in a month for some reason, but being a royal she could just be being fussy. Like I said, I have seen no mites on her.

Finally. Humans can't get them can they? I dont want to have to cut my hair.

Pretty old, but may aswell answer, for future reference...
If it was me, I would gas all the mice then when they are dead put them in warm water for 5-10 minutes to drown the mites, rinse off, then feed or freeze.

Handle tricky situations as if you were a dog, if you can't hump it or eat it, just piss on it and walk away.
