QUOTE FROM SITE:
"Essentials in the Enclosure
Aside from your heating equipment, thermostat and a water bowl large enough for the snake to submerge its body in, a few other things are needed. The first is an ultraviolet light source, which mimics the way the sun lets off UVB rays in the wild. Without it your snake can get Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD) and other problems, such as weak or deformed bones. Snakes that are used for breeding need extra calcium to produce eggs, and without proper UV light they simply can not produce enough. A fluorescent strip bulb should be fixed in the length of the vivarium, and should be close enough to the ground that the snake can get within 10-12’’ of it. These bulbs usually need changing every 6-12 months, as after this time they continue to produce light but no longer produce any UV. Two caves should also be in the enclosure, one on the cool side and one on the warm side. With all that in place, your enclosure is ready to house your Corn Snake!"
Just curious why a snake that is rarely active during the day in the wild and is diurnal would require a source of ultraviolet light? Perhaps i am missing something but never heard of providing corns with UV before.
