really good advice. i would just like to add a little note about live feeding.

it is illegal in this country to feed live vertebrae to animals, therefore it really should be a last resort and it is advisable to get permission from a vet i ges. but then again the RSPCA dont exactly do raids on this kind of thing.

just thought i should mention it.

It is specified it should only be done as a last resort and under advice from a vet but it is not illegal to feed live in the UK. If it was Vets would not be allowed to advise it - since they can't override the law.

I believe keepers have been succesfully prosecuted for cruelty to food animals for leaving them in hot tanks for extended periods of time without food, water or means of escaping the heat - but not for feeding live itself.

I've heard of a story (dont know if it was true) but a snake didnt eat for weeks and was straightening itself out on the owners bed when the concerned owner took it to the vet, he told her it was preparing itself to eat the owner!

this story is a load of bull in my opinion, who lets their snake sleep in their bed.

its not illegal to feed live in this country. there are certain aspects that do make it illegal like public viewing as this is cruelty.... there is a sticky on here somewhere but it is legal to live feed.
