What sasandjo said above.

Also, reptiles in the green, which also have livestock don't seem to have a website, but you can contact them through Bebo:

Reptiles In The Green <ReptilesI>

Also, you mentioned you are under 16. Please remember that if you go to a pet shop to buy any animal, it is againt there pet licience to sell to anyone under the age of 16. Any reputable pet shop will stick very closely to this policy in order to safeguard their licience. You will have to take an adult with you if you buy from the pet shop.

Good luck.

Yup.. as SelinaRealm says,

The Animal Welfare Act forbids the sale from pet shops of animals to those unde 16 without a parent present. A lot of pet shops (including my own) refuse to sell to those under 18 without ID on the recommendation of their council.

I don't know how many breeders will do it but as a breeder myself, I wouldn't sell to a teenager alone unless I had at least spoken to their parents by phone first.

Yup! as Athravan states, any good breeder who cares for their animals will not sell to a teenager without checking with a perent too.

Hope you don't think everyone is having a go mate, no one is. We just all care about animals lots and lots and want the best for them, so letting you know the situation so you can sort things out properly.

If you are a serious in wanting one as I think you are, you will go about it properly and end up with a very healthy snake.

If it is as hard as is it to be able to get one with you living on an Island, can you imagine if you got one that was sick or injured through being sent by post, or from a bad breeder. It would be a nightmare to find a Herp vet to save it if you are struggling just to find a shop. Best not to take any risks.

Yeah, I understand all that!
Iv spoken to vets up here so thats all sorted out. Also i AM 16, so that won't be a problem.
Last night after SelinaRelm mentioned there was an aberdeen breeder, I looked him up and found him (its the royally morphed pythons guy Athravan mentioned above). I emailed him and he got back to me this morning. He says that he should have some available in the summer, so I think Ill be going down and collecting one from him myself!
He even said he would meet me off the boat (all though i dont think thats necessary, ill go to the cinema first, yet its still an extremely friendly gesture!). This way i should also be able to see the snakes first like people reccomend!
But yeah!
And Dont worry, I dont think your all having a go. I understand completely about getting everything right!!!
I wouldn't want to be in a situation where things are looking bad for the snake because of my mistakes.
But if you still notice any flaws in my plan, just let me know!
Ordering frozen mice shouldn't be a problem should it?
If it will be, It'll be a good excuse to go away!
So thanks for all the help!
I really appreciate it.

You're going to have a similar problem with mice I think, in that mice need to be sent next day delivery or they will defrost... and I think pretty much all parcel couriers can't guarantee next day delivery to the islands.

You could probably get away with doing a 48 hour delivery if buying 6 months of mice at once or something.. just make sure you stock up well!

Ill see if i can do a search on him and try get in touch.
As for planning a trip across, there not that much that needs to be done.
As Im under 16, they give me 2 return trips per year on the boat, so ill just use one of them and try and plan it around the release of a good film! (We dont have a cinema, so thats always at the top of my to-do list when i go away)
Thanks!
Hi there,

You stated yourself in the post above that you are under 16 (I have highlighted it in bold), I dont understand why you would say that when your no, but thats the only reason I mentioned what I did about shops selling to under agers.

You may have a problem with getting mice delivered. I only live in Fife, Scotland, which is way more south than you and I struggle for them to arrive still completely frozen with next day delivery.

Also, not all vets have Herp experience. A lot of vets haven't as much as even treated a snake. I am really lucky here in Fife, as there is a great herp vet through in Dunfermline. Its a good idea to have an emergency back up plan if anything goes wrong and to make sure the vet has relevent experience with the different needs of exotic animals or they can honestly do more harm then good.

Would you request for a parent to be present in this sale? I find it hard enough to trust people at the best of times, so i'd always be suspicious that the parent could be imitated by a friend over the phone.

Lorcan, as mentioned in the e-mail and above, there does seem to be some obstacles we might have to over come and i'm not trying to be awkward, i'm just looking out for the animals welfare here (which is nothing against you either - vets, age and frozen food are my main concerns)

Yeh! Seems a difficult situation due to the contradiction in age by the poster himself.

I honestly wouldn't know what to advise as Im not a breeder or a shop owner, but there does seem to be a lot of problems at the end of the day.

Mabey Athravan will give his opinion with him probably having experience with this sort of thing.
