Default Big Mac latest.

I gave him his 2nd injection yesterday, the 1st I've ever done and all I can say is I'm glad he didn't know what was coming as I was scared enough for both of us. Still I think I did ok.

One side of his mouth is going down nicely and the other is looking better. He seems brighter in himself too which must be a good sign.

He has been in a RUB since he came but today I put him into the viv I had got ready for him before he arrived. He didn't move, didn't explore, just lay there, tongue flicking. I have just had him out to do his mouth with iodine supplied by the vet, and when I put him back he began to look around, in fact he looked quite happy, almost cheeky so I took these pics.

He came to me with a very bad case of mouth rot.

He'd been rehomed from the sspca and the lady I got him from had taken him to a vet who said it was bruising from hitting the side of his viv so didn't treat it. I had some Cetavol which I had been given for mouth rot but it wasn't stong enough to shift Macs so he's on an injection every 2 days and iodine to bathe it.

Glad to see he's doing well,

What is very worrying is that the vet who misdiagnosed is one of the only rep vets in the area, who all the shops/breeders etc etc recommend

It maybe an idea to let the vet know, so he will know what to look for in future but it doesn't instill much confidence does it? Even I guessed what it was and I had only seen 1 very mild case before.

Mac has been an angel through it all.

Thank you but I couldn't leave him to suffer could I?

I have just had a call from the vet with the result of the swab he took and it seems he also has a secondary infection usually caused by low temps so I will have to up them a bit. At least the antibiotics the vet gave me are the right ones so we can continue with them.

Just did his injection again this time with no-one to hold him and I found it easier.

The vet said he needs to eat so I have given him a rat weaner but all he's done is to sit with his nose 2" away and stare at it.
