Thanks, you can tell I'm an over protective new owner :P plus I'll be in lots of trouble if he escapes.

Gave him his first feed (rat pup?) on Sunday, it took about 15-20 seconds or so of dangling it in front of him before he struck at it and today he had left me a nice little white present, so he had a nice clean out.

More pics taken today to follow...

Yeah, nice royal and welcome to a really friendly and helpful forum. Earlier people were talking thermometers, I use an infrared thermometer which takes instant and accurate surface temps all over a viv in seconds, really useful for setting the thermostat I can tell you, most are well out and without checking you'd think temps were all fine. Here's a link to one on e-bay at the minute, similar to the one I use but search around and you'll find one I'm sure, well worth the investment and peace of mind it gives.Infrared Thermometer Infra Red Laser Point - Kitchen on eBay, also Thermometers, Kitchen Accessories, Kitchen, Home Garden (end time 26-Jun-08 21:45:00 BST)
You say it'll be your only snake, I said that and have ended up with 24 (inc hatchlings) and a gravid boa about to birth in the next week! My wife won't have them in the house so I keep the entire collection in an outhouse that works fine. Enjoy this snake and the next and the next etc etc.
