kept snakes for 11 years now and i have only been bitten once and that was with tongs lol but i agree if you can use tongs use them deffanitly if you are new to the hobby i feel safer doing the old tip of the tail dangle plus i always put my snakes on the floor of there vivs and make sure there nose to nose almost with the food item and iv never had a problem yet touch wood ps always respect the power of your snakes no mater how small or big or dosile they are
