Definitely not candycane - he's got orange/yellow background instead of white.
I'd third the idea that it's an Amel hybrid ratsnake of some description, either Creamsicle (amelanistic cornXgreat plains rat hybrid) or a "bubblegum rat" (cornXobsoleta rat).

Well, by definition, a Candy Cane is an amel with a clean WHITE background and coloured saddles. If it has an orange background, it doesn't have a white one, which means it can't be a candycane. Now, it is quite a pale amel and there's evidence that some (many? most?) candy canes have some Creamsicle heritage because creams tend to have a paler/whiter background.

Candy cane is an amel. Just like sunglow, reverse okeetee etc. the labelling is subjective. What counts as a candy cane to one breeder may not to another. Shops generally label snakes as they receive them to be honest, and genetically - it is still an amel. If someone was looking for a true candycane and actually cared for a selective breeding project, surely they would know what they were looking for and what they wanted?
It is like labelling things as miami, carolina, okeetee - they are still normals, peoples perception of exactly what this locality looks like can be very different from each other - and you get good examples, and bad examples - genetically, still all normals. Is it in shed?
