deffinatly! the only restraining i do is when he goes up my arm towards my face - other than that they do what they want! i have found several techniques for succesful handling.

1) 'scoop' them out, unlike with other snakes when you grab them
2) rinse your hands in cold water - dont dry them, this de-activates heat pits.
3) if it looks like the snake will bite gently nudge it against something - amazons instantly think something is out to get them and turn around away form your hand, arm or face etc

no there very clever! haha

my female(which i am convinced is wild caught - or was tortured ) is very clever - she knows that the side of the cage i tap i am not coming in from - she knows exactly how a hook works and how to bite me - shame amazons dont have good aim really

they have a very bad, and in some cases undeserved reputation for being bitey, however i have found that they tend to musk more often than not. some are outrageously defensive - a female i have for example probably would let me keep on finger and a thumb if i tried to handle her - the male has always been calm - and i find that if the handler is confident the snake is less likely to mess around.

They are hard to tame becuase they are so alert and nervous animals - when handling you have to move slow and let them do that they want
