Cornmorphs, as u might have read a bit higher up on the first page im new to this, so could you explain what a hypo is?

its short for hypomelanistic..
this means lacking in black, 'hypo' means less pretty much.
so its virtually a normal with less black.

all motleys and stripes look lighter though don't forget.. its part of the effect the motley/stripe gene has on the overall colour

its why there are so many people who are not sure if they have a ghost stripe, or an anery stripe.

quick explanation.. these are some of the basic "building blocks" of corn snake colours, i'm just using hatchling pics to show colours as its the age you have

first off you get the wild colour... which can vary a lot from snake to snake, but is generally along the lines of this



then you get snakes with just one gene making them the colour they are

anery = a snake with no red pigment (anytheristic)


amel = a snake with no black pigment (amelanistic)


Hypo = a snake with reduced black pigment (hypomelanistic)
