Default Corallus grenadensis

Another thread on Corallus cooki i.d issues has led to me mentioning a little trip to Grenada I once made and that I have some pics of some Corallus grenadensis that I caught whilst there. (These particular animals were caught on a night herp using head torches looking for red-eye shine (and I was lucky enough to do it in the presence of Mr Bob Henderson!))

I actually did a talk on some of the native herps of Grenada to a large lecture theatre full of American Vet students, and the big girl in the photo's decided to take that opportunity to empty her bowels upon me! All snakes were measured, sampled (blood and small scale) and returned unharmed to where I caught them. The different colours of the babies caught with two hours at the same location was just amazing!

Anyway, here are some pics!

Cheers

Andy

Cool pics mate! Makes a great change to see some wild snakes . Did you go over there to work with the snakes or purely for a holiday?

I was there as part of one of my PhD field research trips. Spent 3 months on Grenada, but also did a lot on Dominica as well. I was actually studying the native Anolis species (A. aeneus and A. richardii on Grenada and A. occulatus on Dominca) but did a lot of snaking whilst out there (my epitaph is a Liophis juliae from Dominica and one of the world's rarest snakes).

Cheers

Andy
