really, really, really big specimens are elderly. you're talking about something that has beaten the odds.

bloody hell thats huge. when it says shot does it mean actually shot dead or recorded ?

For sure, same with extremes of any snakes. People see a record size (like say for the retics) and then think they all grow that big when the reality is very different.

No one is upset atoll.I just think when an opinion is made in a corrective manner it should be grounded with an understanding of the opinion that it is trying to correct.This clearly was not the case.Then to miss spell the attempted correction,surely a double clanger!!
As for being wrong.I was not aware that the husbandry of large snakes had reached such a peak of excellence that no room for debate(heated or otherwise)on the matter was to be permitted.The insistence on 8x4x4 as the 'right' size of viv worries me more due to the closed minded nature of the statement than the actual size.A philosophy followed by many people or one that has persisted for along period of time should beware of the real possibility of stagnation.

It was because it was a monstous specimen on school grounds. Safer that way than asking it to leave nicely and please don't eat the kids.
