Default Right royal rant

Im usually very placid, but recently I'm very tired of seeing the millionth thread about a non eating royal etc...

I keep a lot of them and before I got into keeping them a few years back I done as much research as possible via the net, local shops and through a big breeder with whom Im now very good friends with.

I love Royals and I'm tired of them being slated whether it be the WC/CF/CB issue or the feeding one.

I appreciate some people are new on here and new to keeping them, but all you need to do is look about 2 threads down or use the search and you find untold threads and even stickies about the matter.

It just annoys me as for every post that is made, there are the positive comments and then those slating them, usually from hearsay and not through personal experience.

Im not a lover of corns (yet to venture into that market, although hear bloodreds are stunning) but Im not in every corn thread slating corns.

Big up those that buy them, but before purchasing them, do some research, look up some breeder sites or just type in royal/ball python into google and read away.

This is not aimed at anyone in particular so dont take offence and if any is caused, my bad.

And breeaattthhhe lol feel better now?

I see your point totally and i think what most people fail to acknowledge is that often these unnatural fasts are due to human error and not because royals are bad feeders.

Most of my royals will take my arm off for food i have 3 who won't now

1) Respiratory infection - who's fault? MINE i screwed up i'm working on it

2) Had Resp (my fault) now gravid - natural

3) Seasonal fast - natural

What do i do with my royals?
NOTHING i keep them in their boxes and vivs and leave them the heck alone becuase they like their dark dingy holes not the bright lights with big things poking at them all the time.

I think if people actually realised snakes aren't social animals and aren't meant to be picked up and paraded around or let out for a stroll for 15mins a day 4x a week or whatever then they'd have good feeding royals.

For those that can't leave alone... don't get one, get a dog or an animal that does want to 'mooch around' etc.

Rach

lol *puts cape and mask on* RESCUER RACHEL DA DAA DAA DAAAAAAA

I think it aggrevates most royal keepers though so we just invest in a large brick wall to bang heads on.

excellent thread!!!!
Although relatively new on this forum, I do agree with what has been said.
I cant believe the amount of very basic information that is being asked for time and time again. Good eating Royals far out weigh the few picky feeders.

my head hurts now

out of the 30 or so Royals i have only 1 07 is a strange feeder ( unless I hold her she wont feed???)
I found this out by picking her up one day and then she struck at the air whilst wrapping my hand, so now unwisey- I hold her, she wraps my hand then I offer her her dinner she takes every time then I put her down to eat. Not something I'm happy about but she has not missed dinner and got me YET, and hopefully she'll grow out of it.
So 30/1 is not a bad ratio IMO
